MG Amazing Red Warrior

I finished this kit in early 2018. Being a design that is predominantly red it was a challenge for me (and still somewhat is) for me to get the red just right according to my tastes. I actually really liked how this turned out, though it is slightly too glossy for my liking, much like most of my builds at that time. I do like how it looks on the weapons though, especially on the barrel of the bazooka.

Sadly I sold this before I could take any action shots with it, and I think I will definitely have to revisit this one again in the future.

Since this build was so long ago, I only remember the the mixes for the reds. My gripe with the standard colour scheme is that the two reds are too close in tone together, making it looks like an Amazing Red blob. I changed the scheme by making the secondary red darker, and making the V-Fin two-tone.

On a note for myself, adding black to red turns it purplish, whereas adding green turns it into a more chocolatey-brown.

Also for any red design I feel there should be a little green, so I gave it the eyes stickers from a RX-78 Gundam ver.Ka, giving that ultimate point of contrast.

Red – Black primer base coat, Starter white technique, followed by a coat of Shine Red (50%) + Red Madder (50%). White and yellow added into the mix for highlights (a orange-ish colour).

Dark Red – I can’t remember the exact combination, but I mixed Russet with Green to create a dark brown, bloody red for a base coat. Then I added yellow and white for highlights.

Yellow – Base coat orange (100%), Starter white technique, followed by a coat of Orange Yellow + Yellow. White and yellow added for highlights.
